The Chevrolet Sonic | Chicago Chevrolet Dealer

The Chevrolet Sonic was introduced for the 2012 model year as a replacement for the Chevrolet Aveo.  While the Aveo had an admirable run as one of Chevy's affordable small cars, the Sonic steps in with a superior upgrade to the segment.

The Sonic is built on an all-new small car platform, the only one in its class assembled in the U.S., and borrows key powertrain components from its big brother, the Chevrolet Cruze  sedan.  From this solid foundation, the Sonic offers two body styles:  a 5-door hatchback or 4-door sedan, both of which provide head-turning design as well as ample passenger and cargo space.

The Sonic's design brings a new element of style and sophistication to the class.  Dramatic lines, chiseled front, and aggressive stance give this small car personality and attitude.  The interior is designed for comfort and performance, with intuitive instrument panels and storage space, as well as plenty of technology extras to suit even the most gadget-happy driver.

Under the hood, the Sonic is nothing but a stand-out.  Not only does it offer up to 40 MPG highway, but it's the only car in its class to offer a turbocharged engine, which incidentally provides class-leading torque as well, achieving 0-to-60 mph in just 7.8 seconds.  Beyond the stats and specs, the bottom line is that this car is fun to drive.

The Sonic also raises the bar in the safety department.  It's the first and only car in its class to come with 10 standard airbags, and it received both a 5-Star Overall Vehicle Score for safety and a Top Safety Pick award from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety.
