The Chevrolet Tahoe | Chicago Chevrolet Dealer

The Chevrolet Tahoe was first introduced in 1995 as a rebadging of the Blazer, which was upgraded from mid-size to full-size SUV with an added 4-door option to become the Tahoe.  With the rising popularity of SUV's in general in the late 90's, the Chevrolet Tahoe became an immediate favorite for those seeking a more "domestic sport" vehicle, with ample room for both passengers and cargo, as well as supreme towing ability.  In fact, Motor Trend named the Chevrolet Tahoe Truck of the Year in 1996, just one year after its introduction on the market, praising its design, performance, utility, versatility, quality, and creature comforts.

The Tahoe enjoyed sustained popularity, and was redesigned for the 2000 model year on the GMT800 platform that was shared with full-sized pickup models, with exterior updates for a sleeker and more aerodynamic design and interior upgrades to the seating, dashboard, and door panels. Updates in 2001 included an optional rear bench seat to increase passenger seating capability to nine adults, a feature which has remained in the Tahoe to the present day.

In addition to being a versatile vehicle for both families and utility purposes, the Chevrolet Tahoe also became a popular vehicle for law enforcement, prompting the release of the 2007 Police Tahoe. Especially valuable to personnel in rural areas, the Police Tahoe features an improved handling package with enhanced front and rear suspensions capable of handling police loads, as well as a customized electrical system suitable for installing police radios and light bars.

Today, the Chevy Tahoe remains one of the best performing SUVs in the market.   Both capable and fuel-efficient, rugged and comfortable, the Tahoe gets the job done, whether it's towing a motorboat or hauling the kids to soccer practice. It's full-size capability at its finest.
