The Chevrolet Traverse | Chicago Chevrolet Dealer

The Chevrolet Traverse made a quiet debut at the 2003 North American International Auto Show in Detroit as a concept car, whose design eventually gave way to the 2005 Chevy Equinox.  The actual Traverse as we know it today was based on the concept design of the 2005 Chevrolet Sequel, and made its grand entry at the 2008 Chicago Auto Show.  Its 2009 model line was officially released into the US auto market in late 2008.

The Traverse is Chevrolet's first full-size crossover SUV, and bridges the gap between tough and classy.  It's built on the GM Lambda platform with a front-engine layout and a 6-speed automatic transmission with up to 288 horsepower in the LTZ model.  Fuel economy is rated at 24 miles to the gallon highway, making it the most fuel-efficient crossover on the market.

On the interior, the Traverse seats eight adults comfortably, and various trim options include leather seating, rear view camera, navigation system, Bluetooth, and heated seats. Overall, the interior design shows attention to functionality, comfort, and utility.

In safety ratings, the Traverse performed well in both crash and rollover tests. Its standard safety features include: front and front side driver and passenger airbags, front and rear head side impact airbags, traction control system, electronic stability control system, four wheel ABS, rear parking assist and tire pressure monitor.
