The Chevrolet Volt is a plug-in hybrid electric vehicle and
is the most fuel-efficient car with an internal combustion engine sold in the
United States. The Volt was first
unveiled as a concept car in 2007 at the Detroit Auto Show, to wide public
acclaim, and has been on sale in the US market since the end of 2010.
This electric technology supplemented by the additional
range of a gasoline engine drops the Volt into the new category that GM calls
the "Extended Range Electric Vehicle" or E-REV, and when you look at the
numbers, you'll see why the Volt is in a class all its own. The Environmental Protection Agency rated the Volt's combined city/highway
fuel economy at 93 miles per gallon gasoline equivalent in all-electric mode,
and at 37 mpg in gasoline-only mode, for an overall fuel economy rating of 60
mpg combined. | 2012 Chevrolet Volt More information and pricing on the 2012 Chevrolet Volt 2012 Chevrolet Volt Virtual Showroom 2012 Chevrolet Volt Photos and Specs |
