MORE INFORMATION

PERFORMANCE

The Hyundai Elantra Touring is responsibly fun.  Its 2.0-liter engine gives you up to 31 miles per gallon on the highway and generates a solid 138 horsepower and 136 pound-feet of torque.  Transmission choices include a 5-speed manual transmission or a 4-speed automatic transmission.  The Continuously Variable Valve Timing (CVVT) system also contributes to the engine's efficiency, and the Elantra Touring is a certified Ultra Low Emission Vehicle (ULEV).

But this vehicle is not just about efficiency; the Elantra Touring also has a high fun factor.  A responsive, sport-tuned suspension, speed-sensitive steering, and dual overhead cams make for a lively ride with excellent handling.

SAFETY

The Elantra Touring was the first compact 5-door to come standard with Electronic Stability Control, a safety system touted by the Nation Highway Traffic Safety Administration as "the single most important safety advancement since the seatbelt."  And the safety doesn't end here of course.  The 2012 Elantra Touring also comes with a long list of safety features including six airbags, 4-wheel disc brakes, Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) with Electronic Brake-force Distribution (EBD), a Traction Control System (TCS), a reinforced unibody made of high-tensile steel with crumple zones, bodyside reinforcements, hood-buckling creases, active front head restraints and an energy-absorbing steering column.

EXTERIOR

The Elantra Touring's design gives equal weight to form and function.  On a cursory glance, you might be taken by the Elantra Touring's wide stance, striking front air intake, sloping beltline and stylish profile.  Investigate a little deeper, and you'll find that the wide stance increases overall stability, that the sloping design contributes to a low coefficient of drag for improved fuel economy, and that the longer wheelbase (longest in its class at 106.3 inches) provides maximum interior space.  Don't forget about the rear hatchback door that makes cargo stowage a snap, and options like 17-inch alloy wheels with chrome inserts, silver roof side rails and front fog lights.

INTERIOR

The interior of the 2012 Elantra Touring is all about space and features.  The Elantra Touring has 10% more space than its nearest competitor, and has a whopping 65 cubic feet of cargo space.  This is even more room than the Nissan Murano, which is in the mid-size SUV class.  You'll also find plenty of features to help organize this space, including seatback pockets, in-dash storage, center console, rear center armrest cupholders, front and rear door map pockets with bottle holders, an overhead compartment for sunglasses and even a hidden cargo-area storage compartment in the rear for valuables.

Other standard interior features include air conditioning, heated dual power side mirrors, a cooled glove compartment, power windows and door locks, remote keyless entry with alarm, and a 6-speaker 172-watt audio system with XM® Satellite Radio and iPod/USB and auxiliary input jacks.  As if this weren't enough, a modest upgrade to the SE trim adds extras like a power sunroof, leather seating surfaces, heated front seats, and a stylish leather-wrapped steering wheel and shift knob, just to name a few.
