New Hyundai Santa Fe Sport for sale in Chicago, IL
The 2018 Hyundai Santa Fe Sport deserves the name Sport. It is an advocate in crossover market, thanks to the vehicle’s value for money and standard inclusions that the other manufacturers have yet to match. Select the beefier turbocharged four-cylinder with its boost in power and you will see what they mean by the name “Sport.” Positioned between its smaller sibling the Tucson and the larger Santa Fe, this 2018 offering resembles both but outshines them both in the looks department.
The six-speed automatic transmission benefits from well-programmed shifts and perfect ratios. The Sport responds to a heavy jab on the gas pedal quickly, at which point it takes nano-seconds before it changes into a lower gear. The 2018 Hyundai Santa Fe Sport’s power steering now has three settings, and it is so much better than older versions of the same steering system. The Santa Fe Sport can come with optional all-wheel-drive that utilizes an open center diff to allocate power from the front to the rear when traction is needed and uses the anti-lock system to hold down on spinning wheels. It is not meant for serious off-road usability and traction, but rather for on-road, all-weather grip. All-wheel-drive models also come with torque vectoring control system on the back wheels through the anti-lock system as well; this aids in cornering, the inside back wheel receives some braking directed to it automatically.
The Santa Fe Sport is middle ranged of the class. The external measurements of 184.6-in length sit on 106.3-inch sized wheelbase at 74 inches width. Such figures transpose into interior cabin room that beats most of the new Sport’s rivals. The front seats are well-cushioned with firm bolstering and nice comfortably-shaped backs. Knee and legroom are exceptional for the taller occupant. Most heads are going to slide just under the sunroof with room to spare. Hyundai furnishes the front seating with cloth, power adjustments, leather, ventilation and heat, dependent of course on what model. Space is excellent in rear, as well, and the back-seat bench folds, splits and slides to enhance flexibility. There is a middle portion that can be folded down independently, leaving two seating positions and space enough for longer cargo. Leather-furnished Sports come with sliding back seats, as well (plus it reclines for longer trips). Much thought has been put into convenience. The passenger seat in the front folds down flat to accommodate very long loads. Folding away the rear seating allows for astounding 71.5 cubic foot of space; with the back seats upright, it can cart 35.4 cubic ft of goodies.
The basic model of the 2018 Hyundai Santa Fe Sport has all the inclusions as standard that buyers expect in an SUV crossover. Each model arrives with a slew of features, cruise control, LED taillights, seventeen-inch wheels, and keyless entry. A basic audio player comes with six speakers, USB and auxiliary ports, and Bluetooth connectivity. The turbocharged four-cylinder model increases the content. It delivers leather, and heated front seats; eighteen-inch wheels; keyless ignition; dual-zone climate control; blind-spot monitors; hands-free rear liftgate; a seven-inch touchscreen; Hyundai’s Blue Link telematics service; and wiring pre-fitted for trailer hitches. The Ultimate model puts the icing on the cake with a panoramic sunroof, an eight-inch touchscreen, a premium audio system, heated steering wheel and heated back seats, nineteen-inch wheels, and a surround camera.
A 2.4L straight four-cylinder arrives as standard into the entry-level Santa Fe Sport. It is somewhat underpowered for the size of the vehicle. It returns only 185 horsepower (with demanding, gasping manner). Choose the 2.0L turbocharged four-cylinder instead as it develops 240 horsepower. The gear changes flow smoothly from the six-speed automatic transmission which is geared marginally taller for this powerplant, and the torque builds rapidly at low revolutions. This vehicle has self-assured acceleration and loses only one mile per gallon to return 20 around town, 28 on the interstate, and 23 combined to its non-turbocharged 2.4L engine, and it has increased tow ratings of 3,500 lbs.
